Get glowing and support Cynthia Spencer Hospice
Date 25.02.2020
25.02.2020Events Management students from the University of Northampton have launched ticket sales for a glow in the dark walk, raising much-needed funds for local charity, Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The Sunset Stride 2020 will see walkers tackle a 12k trail around Pitsford Water reservoir at Brixworth Country on Saturday 18 April.
As the sun sets, the striders will light up the night by wearing glow in the dark, or neon clothing as they complete the course, crossing the finish line at around 9:30pm.
Event sponsors Northampton’s Clubbercise Coaches, Marie and Jojo, will kick off the Sunset Stride with a Clubbercise warm up, before they head to the start line for 7pm. Clubbercise routines are a fusion of dance and combat moves, set to a soundtrack of classic club hits from the 90s to today – all accompanied by glow sticks.
Sarah Denston, Events Fundraiser, for Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said “We’re delighted to be working with the University of Northampton students to organise the Sunset Stride. This is the third year we’ve worked with the Events Management students to create a high impact fundraising event, throughout the process we’ve been impressed by their professionalism and knowledge.
“This year is set to be a great event, and we’re excited to see the vast array of colours on show as we light the night, to support the people of Northamptonshire using the services of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.”
The event been organised by course-mates Annabel Laird, Debora Antwi, Hildah Kangethe, Lindsey manning and Abigail Mynottas part of their final year project – equivalent to a dissertation.
Student, Annabel Laird, said: “The hospice relies on donations and fundraising to provide the very best care for people in Northamptonshire. So often, we light candles to remember loved ones, this year, we’re asking striders to dress in bright and glow in the dark outfits, which will create a beautiful symbolic display as the sun sets over the reservoir, to bring people together to remember those loved ones who have been supported by the Cynthia Spencer Hospice”
