Have your say: Students’ Union Engine Shed

Located at the University’s new Waterside Campus, which will open in 2018, is a Grade II listed Engine Shed which is in a poor state of repair. Earlier in the Year, the Heritage Lottery Fund granted £1.3m towards the refurbishment of the Engine Shed, which will be the home of University of Northampton Students’ Union.

The Engine Shed will house the Students’ Union’s membership services including academic advice, representation, sports clubs, societies, volunteering and skill development opportunities. A separate town centre venue will house the Students’ Union’s evening entertainments.

While the Engine Shed will be used as a Students’ Union it is important for the building to reflect the industrial history of the area, the Engine Shed will be the only previously existing building in an otherwise new build campus.
