A round up of mentions in the media of the University, our staff and students.

For the past six months, the Nursing Times has been compiling a manifesto for the profession. This week, they published the complete version and two of the nurses giving their ‘wish lists’ to the new Government are from UON, joined by one of our Nursing students.

Journalism students were up all-night reporting on the General Election votes and counting. They were interviewed by Bro Radio (listen again link not available) and also featured in the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

The University’s recent STEAM Northants event, the biggest county careers event for 10–18-year-olds, saw more than 3,000 people come to Waterside campus to find out more about science, technology, engineering, arts, maths and more. One of the delegates came from the Cleaning and Support Services Association, as reported by Tomorrow’s Cleaning.

As hundreds of thousands of race fans headed for Silverstone Circuit for the recent Formula 1, Events Management academic Claire Drakeley was ready to learn everything she could, as reported by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

The University’s recent Research Conference showcased some of the more diverse and unknown projects, including presentations about the work of technicians and demonstrators, as reported by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

During another recent event, academics, professional services colleagues and students gathered for speeches, workshops and panel discussions about the University’s Access and Participation Plan. This helps improve equality of opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and was reported by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

Local primary school children came to Waterside recently to present proposals to improve their school or communities, part of the Changemaker Student Award initiative reported by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.
