Date 13.11.2015
13.11.2015The University of Northampton’s Business School is delighted to announce it has been shortlisted for the prestigious Times Higher Education award for Outstanding Business School 2013.
The award recognises Northampton Business School’s (NBS) commitment to developing graduates who play active roles in business and social enterprises. NBS’ commitment to an exceptional student experience is paying dividends: 95.4% of NBS graduates are employed or in further study within six months.
Dr Ian Brooks, Executive Dean of NBS commented: “I am very pleased for the School, its dedicated and experienced staff and most of all for its student body that we have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award. The Northampton Business School enjoys very high student satisfaction, excellent graduate employability and buoyant recruitment both at home in the UK and overseas. We are ambitious and entrepreneurial and attempt to imbue these qualities in our students.”
Students within NBS have endless opportunities for real business experience. The Business School launched NBS hothouse earlier this year, a student-led consultancy business. NBS hothouse already has 20 clients, supports Events Management students organising high-profile events and multiple consultancy projects for local SMEs and social enterprises. The Business and Enterprise Support Team secured over £1million funding for the Enterprise4Corby programme, assisting 400 people to start their own businesses – a national exemplar winning further longer term funding to work with disadvantaged groups.
The shortlisting comes at a time when the University of Northampton is cementing its place as a leading university; having also been shortlisted for the THE University of The Year 2013 award. The University has had success across the board in several Higher Education league tables, and in addition, the National Student Survey and the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education surveys have recognised the commitment of academic and professional services staff to enhancing the academic and student experience at the University.
The winners will be announced on 28 November 2013 at an awards ceremony in London.
