Northampton storms the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week 2019
Date 5.06.2019
5.06.2019The University of Northampton made a triumphant return to east London on Tuesday, as its students took command of the catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week 2019.
The annual showcase of the UK’s university fashion talent marks the high point of students’ three years of study, and the Northampton cohort’s collections went down a storm with the audience.
Collections from 12 final year undergraduates from the Fashion, Footwear & Accessories and Textiles for Fashion courses were selected for the catwalk show at The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane.
Textiles for Fashion student Rebecca Seidl, said: “The run up to Graduate Fashion Week was very stressful, but it was all worth it in the end – to see it all come together for the show was great and the whole experience was fantastic.”
Rebecca’s collection was inspired by the occult and witchcraft. She said: “I don’t practise it myself, but was interested in its popularity and aesthetics. My research led me to tarot cards. I took the imagery and took it apart and made abstract and absurd collages for my patterns.”
