Pole position at Silverstone for Finnish visitors
Date 18.11.2019
18.11.2019The University of Northampton’s Events, Tourism and Hospitality team recently hosted students from the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) for a student exchange visit.
The Finnish students, all studying tourism degree programmes, have been immersed in life at the University of Northampton, which has involved getting out and about with UON students to explore what Northampton has to offer, including a trip to the Silverstone Circuit.
The visit is part of a longstanding Erasmus+ partnership with Satakunta, which provides funding for students, recent graduates and staff to study, gain work experience, teach or train abroad.
Nick Naumov, Senior Lecturer in Hospitality & Tourism Management, said: “This exchange provided our students with an exceptional opportunity to broaden their horizons by studying alongside the Finnish students and exploring the tourism and events management perspective they brought with them to the UK. The students thoroughly enjoyed it and have benefited from a broader understanding of how tourism operates and have exchanged ideas and good practices.”
Tiina Garcia, an academic from Satakunta University, also delivered a guest lecture to final year students and took part in a Faculty of Business and Law Research seminar.
