Regional Businesses get unique Help to Grow

6.10.2021Northamptonshire and Leicestershire-based businesses can get help to grow their management capability, thanks to support from the University of Northampton, the Leicester Castle Business School, part of De Montfort University Leicester, and government funding.
The Help to Grow: Management scheme has been developed to support senior managers of small and medium-sized businesses and CIC’s to boost their business’s performance, resilience, and long-term growth.
Starting on 28 October 2021, the 16-week programme is delivered online and in-person by academics and business mentors from De Montfort University Leicester. The in-depth high-quality curriculum will support business owners to build capabilities in leadership, innovation, digital adoption, employee engagement, marketing, responsible business, and financial management. By the end of the programme businesses will have worked to develop a business growth plan to drive forward the business’ potential.
The programme is 90% funded by the Government and has been designed to allow participants to complete it alongside full-time work. The cost to participating businesses is just £750.
Karen Jones, Dean of Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Northampton, said: “Over the last 18months, we’ve seen the important role universities have when it comes to supporting the business community in their locality and beyond. Through the Help to Grow scheme we aim to use the collective strength of the University of Northampton and De Montfort University, to work in collaborative and creative ways to support the business community in the region, inspiring innovation, and economic recovery post-pandemic.”
Dr Dyneshia Johnson, Programme Director from the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship at Leicester Castle Business School said: “‘De Montfort University Leicester is delighted to work with the University of Northampton to bring the Help to Grow Management Programme to the region. It will be an invaluable resource as SMEs find their way in the new economic environment. Our goal is to create an engaging experience that provides an open forum and robust network for SMEs and is supported by De Montfort University’s finest academics, executive education mentors, coaches and trainers, and Entrepreneurs in Residence.”
