Social media savvy student lands roving red carpet role

Date 22.11.2017

A student vlogger’s online presenting skills landed her the dream role of red carpet host at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

University of Northampton journalism undergraduate, Josephine Boye, who is a proud Ghanaian, caught the eye of the organisers of Mr and Miss Teen Ghana UK with her posts on Instagram and YouTube.

Josephine’s confidence on camera so impressed the organisers, they invited her to host the red carpet section of the awards, which champion young people of Ghanaian heritage in the UK and were held in October.

“It was such a great experience for me, and one that helped to build my confidence,” said Josephine, who spent the evening interviewing award nominees, before moving on to red carpet interviews with guests, their family and friends.

“To be able to network with lots of amazing people has opened up lots of opportunities for me, as I have received emails from brands interested in me working from them.”

During the night, Jospehine got to interview a representative from the Ghana High Commission and also Mr West Indies UK and gospel singer, Deborah Darling.
