Student Jessica scoops top business award

10.03.2020University of Northampton Student, Jessica Compton, won the coveted title of ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at the SME MK & Buckinghamshire Awards 2020, celebrating her drive to “look for and undertaken personal training and development.”
At the end of Jessica’s first year at University studying Marketing Management, she joined PragmatiQ Solutions, a tech company based in Milton Keynes, as Marketing Co-ordinator on a summer internship.
Jessica impressed the company and was quickly offered a permanent position with them. Alongside her studies, Jessica has worked part-time, and has also taken on additional personal and professional development to make sure she was at the top of her game.
Jessica has developed and delivered on marketing projects, doubling the company’s web traffic through a complete Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) project, and also had the opportunity to lead on a full website redesign.
Commenting on her award win, Jessica said: “I’m extremely pleased to have been given this award. Although it’s been challenging, I’ve really enjoyed working alongside my studies. It’s helped cement my academic studies when I’ve applied my theory to a marketing challenge.
“I hope I can inspire other students to gain experience while they study too, it’s vital to be able to apply to use the theoretical knowledge you’re getting as part of your degree.”
