Date 6.02.2018
6.02.2018Trailblazing sports journalist Jacqui Oatley revealed the worst moment of her career, when she visited the University of Northampton this week.
Jacqui, who made history in 2007 as Match of the Day’s first female commentator, was speaking to student journalists as part of Changing Futures Week – a five-day University wide showcase of industry speakers.
She told them about the moment when she realised she had accidentally deleted a lengthy interview with Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, describing it as her ‘nightmare moment’.

Jacqui also told students how she put her social life on hold, as she made a determined effort to get a foothold on the career ladder, before detailing her high profile television roles with BBC and ITV Sport.
While Jacqui’s appearance was a closed-doors event for students from the University, the Changing Futures For Women In Sports Media conference on Thursday 8 February is open to female sports marketers and sports media practitioners – plus females aged 16 to 18 who are studying English or PE and want to be involved in sports media and marketing.
The day will have guest speakers and panels featuring local and national sports media professionals, plus research on the brand value of women’s football worldwide.
