Date 11.07.2024

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) advances and insights from industry leaders will come to Northampton later this month, when the University will host the UnderOne festival.

To be held on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 July, the two-day festival will be a gathering of global EDI and HR professionals dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

UnderOne will celebrate the power of unity through diversity with talks, forums, panel discussions and workshops covering a variety of pressing EDI issues from sector leaders from organisations including:

  • Clyde & Co
  • Citizens Advice
  • Expedia Group
  • Lloyds Banking Group
  • Soho House
  • Warner Bros. Discovery.

There will also be poetry readings and the chance to de-stress and re-centre with wellbeing sessions including yoga and sounds for relaxation.

EDI is as a cornerstone of the University’s strategy, for which we commit to “celebrate and promote being a diverse and inclusive community because diverse characteristics bring diversity of thought and experiences.”

The event has been developed with insights from an experienced Advisory Board, one of whom is UON’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Anne-Marie Kilday who will deliver the opening address.

One of the keynote speakers during UnderOne will be Selina Moyo, the University’s EDI Manager. She says: “We are excited to welcome participants to the EDI UnderOne Festival taking place at our University later this month.

“This festival offers the perfect platform to celebrate and reinforce the university’s dedication to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. I look forward to engaging with a diverse group of participants and connecting with others who share our passion for inclusivity as we explore innovative ideas to promote and share our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.”

Lydiah Igweh, founder of UnderOne adds: “We are excited to welcome an exceptional lineup of expert speakers and thought-provoking panel themes that cut across race, gender, identity, disability, neurodiversity and much more. In the midst of cultural and political shifts commanding our attention, these voices and ideas play a crucial role in charting the way forward.”
