The perfect brew. Heritage, history, arts and community with The Cultural Cuppa

Date 18.10.2024

Bringing cultural minds and artistic hands together to get the most out of the county’s rich heritage will be the order of the day next month.

The Cultural Cuppa will be held every other month, with the first on Wednesday 6 November in the Engine Shed at Waterside campus from 4-6pm.

The format will be a 15-minute talk for attendees to get inspired and hear about exciting cultural and heritage projects in the county, followed by ample time to connect with like-minded individuals and share ideas, discuss the topics that matter to them and develop future events. Free tea and coffee will be provided.

For this first event, there will be an introductory talk about the Grade II listed Engine Shed followed by a film screening by one of the University’s first group of Heritage Accelerators, artist Carole Miles, about her Accelerator journey and future projects (her artwork is pictured above).

Suzanne Oliver, UON’s Heritage Projects and Partnerships Officer, says: “Culture and heritage practitioners agree that we all wish there were more opportunities to get together to forge new links and strengthen existing ones.

“This is where The Cultural Cuppa comes in, a great opportunity for them to network, learn, and discuss issues related to culture and heritage. If you are interested in culture and heritage, this event is a great way to connect with others who share your passion, so please join us on 6 November for a cozy cultural exchange and conversation over a cuppa!”
