The University of Northampton announces three way partnership in bid for Weston Favell School

Date 11.11.2015

This is the culmination of an extensive dialogue between the parties as to how they can best combine their unique skill sets for the benefit of the children at Weston Favell.

The partners intend to build on the school’s technology specialism to drive up educational standards and students’ aspirations.

Silverstone can offer young children a range of world-class opportunities in terms of hi-tech design, engineering and leisure management. The University will assist with the development of a cutting edge technology curriculum. Combined with the Foundation’s experience of improving academies and raising aspirations of students, it is intended to make Weston Favell one of the leading schools in Northampton.

This partnership presents real opportunities for the students and staff at Weston Favell.  It is the partners’ ambition to develop a high technology design and engineering hub at the school which will provide young people with clear pathways into higher education and employment in the local area.

I am delighted that Silverstone and The University of Northampton, two of Northamptonshire’s leading institutions, have committed to working with the Foundation to support young people at Weston Favell School. The partnership will provide young people with access to a wealth of tailored learning in high technology industries and university research. We want to help young people make the most of the opportunities presenting themselves in Britain’s technology rich industries today. This partnership demonstrates our long-term commitment to the young people of Northampton.

David Ross

The University is excited to be working with its partners on the future development of Weston Favell School. Students and staff at Weston Favell will have the opportunity to work directly with the University to develop a hi-tech curriculum focusing on design, engineering, technology and the sciences. This reflects the University’s wish to work closely with a number of different schools and educational organisations in the county.

Professor Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor, The University of Northampton

Silverstone is delighted to be involved in this exciting project in partnership with the David Ross Foundation and The University of Northampton to develop a high tech design and engineering hub at Weston Favell School. The project demonstrates Silverstone’s commitment to developing links with education in Northamptonshire.
