The University of Northampton partners with Azerbaijan University to develop Centre for Excellence in Wastes Management

13.11.2015The University of Northampton is pleased to announce that it is moving forward with collaboratively developing a Centre for Excellence in Wastes Management in Azerbaijan with the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC).
The Centre will aim to build capacity in sustainable wastes management by delivering high quality university level education, applied research and provide training programmes, consultancy and service provision for the sector, commerce and industry.
Mr Faig Sadigov from the Ministry of Economic Development representing the AUAC visited the University of Northampton on Wednesday 12 June to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Petford. This represents the commitment of both universities to the development of the Centre and further collaborations between the institutions.
Professor Kamal Bechkoum, Executive Dean of the University’s School of Science and Technology, commented: “We are delighted with this development which is yet another international recognition of the University as a centre of excellence in high quality education and applied research in the area of wastes management and resource efficiency. The partnership with AUAC is an immense opportunity for us to have a direct impact on the Azerbaijani society by supporting their plans for efficacious and sustainable wastes management.”
