University of Northampton to launch new student employment agency
Date 16.11.2015
16.11.2015The University of Northampton is delighted to announce that the Unitemps Northampton employment agency will begin operation in September 2014.
Unitemps Northampton will offer a wide range of part-time or full-time temporary work opportunities to students at the University– anything from one-hour shifts to full-time work for several months; offering employers a new way to meet their work force needs.
Unitemps was created by the University of Warwick as a way of providing paid work opportunities on campus and in local commercial businesses for students, recent graduates and the wider community. This has grown into a national network of franchises offering the widest possible temporary work offer to its clients.
Wray Irwin, Head of the University Centre for Employability and Engagement commented: “As the UK’s number one University for Employability there is a strong commitment at Northampton to supporting students to develop and experience the world of work as much as possible. This fits perfectly with the ethos of Unitemps and ensures that the opportunities available to our students are quality assured, contribute to enhancing their learning, and improve their employability.”
Paul Brewster, Director of Unitemps, says: “Our franchise model has been developed to meet the particular needs of Universities. Drawing upon the experience and expertise of recruitment consultants, HR professionals and the Higher Education community, the model offers students and institutions all the benefits of an in-house recruitment agency, as well as addressing social responsibility concerns and enhancing the wider student experience to the advantage of all stakeholders. The network continues to grow and we are extremely pleased that the University of Northampton have chosen to join and take advantage of the obvious benefits for its campus and community. We look forward to working closely together to make Unitemps Northampton a huge success.”
Unitemps Northampton will start operation in time for new academic year. The University will start registering students and people looking for part time work from the Summer, and will be approaching companies in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, and Milton Keynes to explain how Unitemps can help with their recruitment needs.
