VIDEO: Students follow in the footsteps of music giants

Date 28.03.2017

Students from the University of Northampton followed in the footsteps of some of the biggest bands in the world when they took over one of the UK’s best-loved music venues.

The Roadmender, in Northampton, has been a key stop-off on the nationwide gig circuit for up-and-coming acts, with the likes of Oasis, Coldplay, Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro all cutting their teeth there.

Last week, 11 student bands from the town’s University enjoyed the same rite of passage, as they appeared at the 800-capacity venue in Lady’s Lane.

Undergraduates on the Popular Music degree course packed out the venue over three consecutive nights, from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 March, with first and second-years appearing on the second stage, and the final-year students playing the main stage.
