Publications Policy
The University of Northampton is committed to disseminating its research and scholarly communications as widely as possible, supporting the principle that research outputs and data should be as open as possible, and as closed as necessary. Previously academics have often transferred their copyright to publishers, accepting conditions that have resulted in their research being accessible only by those who pay to access, or who have access through their Institutions journal subscriptions.
The Universities publications policy enables researchers to retain re-use rights in their own work and enables immediate open access (removing previous embargo periods, average of 24 months) to the accepted version of the research output. Our publications policy not only addresses this but ensures best practice in terms of acknowledgment of work, authorship and digital preservation of research outputs.
The University of Northampton’s senate approved our Publications Policy in May 2023.
