Residential Life Team

The University of Northampton’s Accommodation and Residential Life team provides support to students living in university halls of residence, dealing with every element of student life on campus and in your accommodation.

Residential Life

Helping you settle in

We deal with everything; whether you’re homesick, tired of having noodles for the 3rd week in a row, have an issue with your flatmates, or just need someone to chat to – the UON’s Accommodation and Residential Life team are the people who can help. We understand that it can be hard to make the leap to independent living and adjusting to university life so we’re here to make that transition a bit easier.

While you are living in halls of residence you will be supported by the Residential Life Team who are there to support you throughout your time in our halls of residence and make you feel at home. You can talk to the Residential Life Team about any problems that you may have in confidence: from homesickness to noisy neighbours.

In your first week the Residential Life Team can help you to fill out a Community Living Agreement. This allows you and your flatmates to set ground-rules about the way you all live together in halls. For example having friends to visit, noise levels, cleaning the kitchen or how often everyone does the washing up! You will be asked to sign the agreement at the start of the academic year and follow those rules you sign up to.

The Residential Life team will also conduct hall welcome talks where they will sit down with you and give you useful advice so that you are prepared for the year ahead. This is also an opportunity for you to get to know the team and to ask any questions that you may have.

Residential Life or Accommodation services staff members offer regular Drop-in sessions (Student Hub – username and password required) to students so they can discuss any residential concerns or questions they may have.

The team also employs student Residential Life Assistants to work alongside them, offering peer support and guidance to residents living in halls. This role is open to applications from second year students onwards.

Residential Services

The team operate a front desk service in the Student Village Reception where you can go for advice and help on issues surrounding your stay in Halls and next steps into private accommodation. Examples of what we can help with:

  • housing advice
  • any additional support required within Halls
  • private renting support
  • flat disputes
  • anti-social behaviour
  • bullying and harassment, including hate crimes
  • Cost of Living advice
  • evictions
