  • Loans for PhD-level study

    UK students enrolling a PhD-level course may be eligible for a PhD Loan up to £28,673 (in 23/24 academic year).

    To ensure the funding is approved on time, we would recommend that you apply for a doctoral loan from SFE well in advance (you can apply for a loan from SFE without a confirmed place but would need to list a course name; loan applications can be amended or cancelled on request)

    Research Councils

    Students enrolling on PhD level programmes, may be eligible to apply to Research Councils for assistance towards tuition fees, living costs and course-related expenditure such as books or travel costs. EU students may only be eligible for funding towards tuition fees.

    The Graduate School manage opportunities for postgraduate students in the UK to apply for Research Council-funded studentships.
