Booking Your Ceremony Tickets and Attendance

Attending Your UON Ceremony

Students attending their ceremony do not need to purchase a ticket for themselves but do need to register that they will be attending, there is no cost for this.

We need to know your intentions regarding the ceremony, we don’t automatically assume you will be attending, the onus is on you to register in the allotted timescales given below. If you plan to attend your graduation and have not gone through the formal booking process below (and therefore not subject to those specific terms and conditions), the University is not and will not be responsible for any costs incurred by you and/or your guests including but not limited to travel and accommodation expenses and visa application fees.

The University recommends that students and guests spending significant amounts to attend a graduation event should purchase their own travel insurance to cover any potential losses should they be unable to attend the actual event.

Guest tickets cost £17.50 each. Students are able to book a maximum of 3 guest tickets, with any additional tickets being sold at a later date.

Booking Your Award Ceremony

All students will be able to go online and book a maximum of 3 guest tickets alongside their attendance. Student attendance is free but does also need to be booked. Guest tickets cost £17.50 each.

If, after booking has closed, there are any remaining extra guest tickets these will be released online shortly after the deadline, all students who are attending will be notified at this time of their availability and can then book these online. All booking and refunding online will close when spaces are full or at 4pm on 8 October, whichever is soonest.

Please note that the ceremony itself is not suitable for children under the age of 5. Additional provision will be made for adults supervising young children outside of the ceremony to view it on a large screen on campus. And, of course, all children are welcome to be a part of any formal photography you arrange and the celebrations throughout the day.

Prior to booking please carefully read our terms and conditions (PDF, 156KB) as by booking to attend you and your guests are agreeing to these.

  • Receiving Your Tickets

All purchased guest tickets will be emailed 1-2 weeks before the ceremony to the graduating student. We advise students to either print or forward the tickets to their guests as they will need them on the day. Students will not receive a ticket for themselves.

    Tickets on the Day

Remaining guest tickets will be sold on a strictly first come first served basis prior to the event. These will be sold from the Ceremonies Helpdesk at the theatre.

On the day guests will be required to show their tickets to gain entry to the auditorium, this can be either paper tickets or on a tablet or mobile phone. Please note that when guests require their tickets the student will not be with them so tickets should be given to the guests in advance.

All tickets will display the seat that has been allocated to the guest.

    Ceremony Ticket Refunds

All students who do not successfully complete their course in the timescale given for their ceremony booking will be automatically refunded. They will also be notified of this, by email, once the deadline for being awarded has passed.

There is a refund deadline for all ceremonies for non-result based refunds, the deadline for requesting a refund is 4pm 8 October. Students who require a refund for guest tickets, gown hire and/or photography for reasons not relating to their results can contact Graduation Attire directly at service@graduationattire.co.uk.

The refund deadline is very strict and refunds after the given date will only be processed in very exceptional circumstances. These cannot be actioned using the online booking system. Refunds will not be allowed once tickets have been sent to students. All information required for the refund to be processed must be received prior to this deadline. Partial information will not be considered. Requests after the deadline should be emailed to ceremonies@northampton.ac.uk.

  • Seating

When booking your ceremony tickets you will be asked to confirm any additional needs you or your guests have that would affect where we seat you, please provide as much information as possible. We will consider this information and seat your party accordingly. Should you have not provided this information at the time of booking, please email ceremonies@northampton.ac.uk with the details as soon as possible.

Wherever possible we will accommodate all guests and students with additional needs, however, should you have concerns please contact us prior to the ceremony. We would always recommend to not leave queries regarding additional needs until the event, as should the venue be full, we may be unable to accommodate late requests. However, should circumstances change last minute, please visit the help desk on the day for advice and help.

    Children

The ceremony is unsuitable for very young children. No children under the age of 5 years old can attend the ceremony, so please do not purchase guest tickets for them. No children under 5 years will be permitted to enter the auditorium even if they have a ticket. Please note no children aged under 16 should attend the ceremony alone due to safeguarding issues.

Children are not restricted from the rest of the event, only the ceremony itself. There is a family friendly viewing area on campus where the ceremony can be watched by those without tickets and children. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Details on the family friendly area can be found in our Graduation Venues and How to View the Ceremonies sections.

Visa Visitor Letter Requests for Guests

If you would like us to provide you with letters to support either your visa application or your guests’ visitor visa applications please complete the letter request form.

Please note that we cannot provide the letters until you have been officially awarded. You must also have booked to attend the ceremony and purchased guest tickets for your ceremony.

If you feel there is not enough time to arrange your visa to attend the ceremony you can choose to defer to a future ceremony instead. Please email ceremonies@northampton.ac.uk with your full name and student ID to request this.
