Welcome, Induction and Arrival
Welcome, Induction, and Arrival will give you the opportunity to settle into university, plus make new friends and feel like a member of our community. You will feel well prepared to begin studying and know that University staff are here to help and support you.
See how the Student’s Union and Student Futures can help you feel part of the UON community in our welcome timetable of activities, including finding temporary work, animal therapy, a welcome breakfast and much more!
Starting at UON
During the first few weeks, we will give you the very best start and provide you with the opportunity:
- to get to know other students including those in your tutor group.
- to help you to become familiar with the academic study expectation on your programme.
- to learn about working, living and socialising together as a member of the University of Northampton community.
- to help to find your way around the Waterside Campus.
We will also provide you with an individual session with your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) and timetabled academic orientation activity.
The Students’ Union work in close partnership with the University of Northampton, including sessions which they run alongside Welcome and Induction.
Welcome and Arrival – September 2024
14 – 15 September 2024
We are looking forward to seeing students who are enrolling in September 2024.
Our main enrolment period takes place from Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 September. It is the time when most new students enrol at the University.
You will be invited to book an enrolment slot between 14 – 15 September. You must book an enrolment slot via our Face-to-Face Enrolment Booking Form. Please book an enrolment slot at least two days before you intend to arrive at the university. Please note that on arrival to enrolment, International students will be expected to show their BRP card, so it is recommended to collect this before your allocated slot – for more information visit our Getting Started pages.
Please be advised that ‘The Amazing Northampton Run’ takes place on Sunday 15 September, which will cause road closures and travel disruption; see the Amazing Northampton Run website for further details. Please allow time for potential delays when travelling.
Halls of Residence
If you are staying in Halls of Residence, please complete your face-to-face enrolment before visiting accommodation in the Student Village Reception. You must have arranged your accommodation before you arrive. See our University Accommodation page for more details.
Enrolment, Parking and Travel Arrangements
Our face-to-face enrolment sessions take place at our Waterside Campus. The below provides an overview of the enrolment, parking and travel arrangements for September.
Paid parking is available on campus for students who are enrolling, though car parks often fill up quickly during enrolments. You will not be able to park on campus after your enrolment without a permit before 4pm on weekdays. Permit applications open in July. For alternatives, please refer to our Student Parking Page or use one of the local parks which are only a few minutes walk from campus, such as St. Johns Multistorey or The Midsummer Meadow Car Park. Our Park and Ride is a convenient means of reaching us by car.
