Events Management BA Welcome Pack

Welcome to BA Events Management 2024.

Studying Events Management at UON is all about enabling you to build your skills, develop your knowledge and build your career in our vibrant and dynamic events industry. You will learn about the nitty-gritty of events in practice and develop your business acumen through projects and group work. Through learning about the theory and applying it in practice, you will develop a solid foundation of knowledge and skill that will help you to thrive in both your studies and in the industry. Within the Programme, you will work alongside event professionals as mentors, guest speakers, and on live projects. You have the support of a fantastically experienced and knowledgeable staff team and you will start building your network of useful contacts from the start.

You can expect to be treated as a professional from the beginning, encouraged to follow your own pathway and explore the subject area from a range of perspectives. There will be face to face sessions, workshops and online sessions across the modules and you will have tasks and materials to explore between taught sessions. Your event projects in each year will be challenging but will also be a fantastic learning experience working in groups to collaborate with external and internal clients. Our social impact activity is woven into the Programme as a whole, creating positive impact across our communities through events, research activity, volunteering and placements, and we encourage all our students to participate and engage with wider activities to support you all to become industry-ready graduates in due course.

Enhancing skills, building networks and engaging in the wider University community

  • Industry Partnerships – We have a fantastic group of industry partners who will be coming into your taught sessions as well as extra opportunities for mentoring, paid and voluntary work, networking and research.  Engaging with our Industry Partners is not compulsory but you will find that they feature within your Programme throughout your University career.
  • Work Experience – There are lots of opportunities to gain experience and apply your learning whilst you are studying with us, including paid and voluntary work in a range of contexts. This presents a great opportunity to build your CV and explore which area of work works for you!  This also gives you lots of material to use in your professional development planning and reflections. This is not a compulsory part of the Programme but will certainly benefit your learning and future career.
  • Study Trips – Our trips are always interesting and add to your university experience whether they are in the UK or further afield. Trips include attending national and international networking and showcases, visiting destinations and undertaking active research, or engaging in international collaborations to share practice and learning. These trips are not compulsory but always add value and develop your knowledge and experience.
