Things to do for free
Finding things to do as a student on a budget can be difficult. However, there are plenty of free things to see and do in Northampton which are student friendly.
5 things to do for free in Northampton
Visit an exhibition at Northampton Museum & Art Gallery
Visiting a free exhibition is the perfect way to discover art and displays by both local and national artists. It can be helpful to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of student life by doing something different, plus entry is free!

Go for a wellbeing walk
There are plenty of beautiful green spaces across Northamptonshire with Becket’s Park being on the university’s doorstep. It’s important to take regular breaks from studying, so why not go for a walk or run, feed the squirrels or grab a coffee from Beckets Pavillion.
Join a society or sports club
All students automatically become a member of the Student’s Union when they study at UON, this includes free societies and sports clubs. Finding a society/sports club that you have an interest in is a great way to socialise and keep yourself busy during the week.
Movie night with your flatmates
Watching a movie with your flatmates can be a good way to pass the time, especially on the colder, rainy days. If one of your flatmates has a subscription to a streaming service, you can watch a variety of movies together or even start a tv series with one another.
Board games and arcade games at Waterside Bar & Restaurant
In the Waterside Bar & Restaurant, there are a variety of classic and new board games such as guess who, Cluedo and uno. You can also find the arcade section full of virtual games to play solo or with friends – which are all free to play. Why not take your friends along and enjoy an afternoon or evening of gaming fun!
