  • Current job title: Senior Waste Management Officer
  • Current employer: Landscape & Waste Management Agency (LWMA)
  • Industry sector: Waste Management

I am currently the Senior Waste Management Officer at the Landscape & Waste Management Agency (LWMA) in the Seychelles.

The LWMA’s key responsibilities are to enforce regulations relating to waste management and to implement waste policies, including waste collection, landfill management, cleaning of public spaces, landscaping, and beautifying.

My primary responsibility is to develop and implement sustainable waste management strategies within the country, in line with the National Solid Waste Master Plan. This includes designing and promoting recycling programmes, conducting research within the sector, and sensitising the public on waste matters; to name a few.

I’ve long had a keen interest in waste management, and the Environmental Science BSc (Hons) course offered by the University of Northampton uniquely allowed me to pursue this field.

I gained a comprehensive understanding of numerous waste management practices and policies, putting me at an advantage in my line of work, due to the Seychelles’ lack of technical capacity within the sector. The course lecturers were highly dedicated and provided invaluable support, commitment, and mentoring throughout my academic journey.

I look forward to pursuing my career further and I’m excited for what’s to come!
