Subject Information


  • The Accounting and Finance Division has also retained its accreditations from ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and AIA (Association of International Accountants). Representatives from these bodies and visiting speakers from a variety of businesses attend the university regularly. You will be invited and encouraged to attend these useful accounting and finance events and engage in the debates.

    Accounting and Finance BSc offers significant exemptions from the main professional body exams including:

    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
    • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

    If you are seeking a finance career such as banking, personal financial planning, investments and wealth management, then Banking and Financial Planning BSc is ideal for you. This course is accredited by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the regulator of the financial services industry.

  • Our three year single honours programmes at undergraduate level are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year, you will find it an invaluable source of economics, accounting and finance work experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

    Our undergraduate Top Up courses are specifically designed for holders of HND qualifications or similar UK and international qualifications. We also offer postgraduate courses, including Masters in economics and Masters in accounting and finance for those who wish to expand upon their current skill set and increase their appeal to potential employers.

    While all our programmes will give you the tools you need to build up your numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, there are variances between our courses. While our accounting courses focus more on the application of those skills within specific business environments, our economics courses and finance courses take a broader approach to the various areas of business and banking.
