Kickstart your career in sports, exercise, and rehabilitation at UON, featuring hands-on learning in modern facilities and expert-led courses. Our undergraduate sport and postgraduate courses are practical-based, stimulating and research-informed – covering a range of topic areas including biomechanics, physiology and psychology, setting you up for your career within the Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation sector.

During your Sport studies, you can make use of our purpose-built laboratories and sports zone on campus to develop your knowledge and understanding of the key issues within sport and exercise science.

Sports Degree Information


  • Compulsory modules will provide Sports graduates with a good foundation of their field of study. In the remaining years, some of your modules will be chosen by you, allowing you to select modules according to your own interests.

    Our three-year single honours BA & BSc programmes at undergraduate level are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria and choose to take up a placement year, you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your future career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

  • Students partaking in our BSc & BA Sport degrees, as well as postgraduate programmes, are asked to meet our standard entry requirements for the individual courses. For our international students, we ask that the English Language requirements of IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands for study are met at undergraduate level.

    In regards to our procedure, we also ask that applicants read further about requirements, as they may vary between each course. Where you have already begun the application process, a standard procedure of a written essay or interview will be required by students.

  • Your journey doesn’t end once you have completed your Sports undergraduate or Masters programme at the University of Northampton. To help you face the challenges of finding the right employment in your preferred sector after university, we have introduced the University of Northampton Employment Promise.

    After successfully completing your Sports course with us, you can secure the opportunity to participate in a three-six month paid internship or additional support for your postgraduate study.   • What degree do you need to be a sport psychologist?

    By studying our Sports and Exercise Psychology BSc Hons degree, you can take your first step to become a sport psychologist. This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

    What jobs can you get with a sport and exercise degree?
