Welcome to our FAQs page.

Here you can find outline information about what to expect during your interview if you have applied for one of our interviewing Education courses. Full details will be emailed to you in your interview invite.

  • Where will my interview take place?

    Your interview will be over the telephone. Before your interview, make sure you have good phone reception and are in a quiet place, free from interruption.

    How long will my interview take?

    Your interview will last approximately 25 minutes.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    For FdLT be prepared to talk about something that you have read about related to education recently. This could be from any source and related to any aspect of education and learning that you are interested in. For the BA Top Up be prepared to talk about an aspect of education that you would be interested in researching for your dissertation, and any experience you have of practitioner research.

    We will also talk through some interview questions with you to explore your experience and application further.

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education (QTS) 5-11

    Where will my interview take place?

    Your interview will be held online using a system called Blackboard Collaborate. For online interviews, you will need a device with video capability to participate. Your interview invite email will detail how to access the Blackboard Collaborate platform.

    How long will my interview take?

    Your interview with the interview panel will last approximately 30 minutes.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    You will need to prepare a five minute verbal presentation for your interview.

    Select a resource that you would like to use in teaching, for example a story book, an artefact or a painting. Have this resource with you to share as part of your presentation. You should be able to demonstrate:

    • why you have chosen the resource
    • who you would use it with
    • how you would use it

    You should also be able to explain how it links to an area of the primary school National curriculum.

    What do I need to bring with me to my interview?

    You will need to present a form of identification at your interview (driving licence, passport, or visa).

    You will also need to:

    • Check your microphone and camera is working and find a quiet place free from interruption
    • Join your interview using the link that has been sent to you.
  • BA Primary Education (QTS) 5-11

    Where will my interview take place?

    Face-to-face interviews will take place in the Learning Hub on Waterside Campus.

    Virtual interviews will take place online using Blackboard Collaborate. For online interviews, you will need a device with video capability to participate. Your interview invite email will detail how to access the Blackboard Collaborate platform.

    How long will my interview take?

    Your interview with the interview panel will last approximately 30 minutes however if your interview if face to face, you will be on campus for longer than this as you will need to register.

    Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?

    You will need to prepare a five minute verbal presentation for your interview.
