Here you can find outline information about what to expect during your interview if you have applied for one of our interviewing health courses. Full details will be emailed to you in your interview invite.

Where will my interview take place?
Face-to-face interviews will take place in the Learning Hub at the Waterside Campus
Virtual interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams. For an online interview, you will require a device with the video capabilities. Please make sure you’re in a quiet place free from interruption.What will my interview involve?
Full details will be included in your interview invite however you will be expected to demonstrate a good knowledge of Adult Nursing and what it involves. You should do some research beforehand to ensure that you are prepared. You will also be asked to discuss a piece of contemporary issue/current news that related to Adult Nursing and the NHS.
Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
Prior to your interview, please watch this video “A new vision for Nurses, Midwives and Care Staff” on the vision for Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare.
We advise you to visit the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) website, where you will find helpful resources relating to nurse education.
We also recommend you keep up to date with current health care and nursing issues in national newspapers and by visiting the following sites:

Your interview with the interview panel will last approximately 30 minutes. For face to face interviews, you may be campus for longer than this as you will need to register.

You will also be asked to discuss a piece of contemporary issue/current news that related to Children and Young Person’s Nursing and the NHS. You will also be asked to discuss a part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code that interests you; this link will take you to the webpage where you can download a copy of the Code.

Your face to face interview with the interview panel will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. For face to face interviews, you may be campus for longer than this as you will need to register. For virtual interviews, your interview will be 30 minutes.

Where will my interview take place?
Face-to-face interviews will take place in the Learning Hub at the Waterside Campus. As part of your interview you will be given an opportunity to have a tour of facilities.
Virtual interviews will be held on an online platform called Blackboard Collaborate. We advise that you use Google Chrome to join. Unless you already have it, we recommend you install Google Chrome before your scheduled interview on a device that is capable of video calling.
Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
You are required to submit a poster on the topic below at least 48 hours before your interview to MidwiferyAdmissions@northampton.ac.uk.
Recent high-profile and ongoing maternity reports including MBRACE (2023), Ockenden (2022), Kirkup (2022) and the Parliamentary Birth Trauma Report (2024) have highlighted the importance of, among other key subjects, listening to women and their families. Research has shown that skilled midwifery care can improve maternal, fetal and neonatal outcomes for women and their families including good communication and relational care (Renfrew et al. 2014).
Your poster should:
- a) Demonstrate your understanding of safe midwifery care including measures to listen to women and their families, especially within vulnerable groups.
- b) Explain how you as a student midwife can facilitate sensitive and appropriate communication for families.

The content and design of your poster will be marked by the interview panel. We will be assessing your ability to communicate your ideas effectively, both in a written and visual format.

Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
During the interview you will be expected to demonstrate a good knowledge of what being a Nursing Associate involves, so you should do some research beforehand to ensure that you are prepared to demonstrate your understanding of the role of the Nursing Associate, the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) role in education and the NMC Nursing Associate Standards of Proficiency. Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
Before attending your interview, you are required to prepare and be ready to answer questions on the provided scenario. Additionally, in preparation for your interview, you may want to complete some research into the role of the occupational therapist and the occupational therapy profession.
When you receive the scenario, we recommend that you:
- Read about the condition.
- Think about what the problem is.
- Identify what the person enjoys doing.
- Can you think of anything that might help?

How long will my interview take?
Face-to-face interviews will last about 7 hours, but you may be on campus longer than this as you will need to register. The interview day consists of an introduction to the course, individual and group interviews, and a tour of our specialist facilities and the campus.
Virtual interviews are 7.5 hours. The interview day will consist of an individual interview, a problem-based exercise, and a values-based exercise. You may also have an opportunity to chat to our current students.
Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
We recommend that you complete some research into the role of a Paramedic and paramedic science profession.

Where will my interview take place?

Where will my interview take place?
For in person interviews, your interview will take place at our Waterside Campus and Podiatry Clinic. The interview day starts at our Waterside Campus then Podiatry Clinic with a Podiatry academic.
For online interviews, your interview will take place online using Microsoft Teams. You will need a device with video capability to participate. You will receive a Microsoft Teams link and instructions for your interview from our BSc Podiatry academic team before your interview day.
How long will my interview take?
For in person interviews, your interview day will last up to 4 hours and you will be expected to be available for the whole time.
For online interviews, your interview will last approximately 30 minutes.
Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
Full details will be included in your invite but as part of your interview preparation, you can research the role of a Podiatrist and podiatry profession. Here are a few places to get started:

Face-to-face interviews will last up to 2 hours. Virtual interviews will last up to 3 hours.
Is there any preparation work to do before my interview?
You need to write an essay an 800 word essay on the following question: “Identify a key social work skill and explain its importance”. This needs to be sent by 8.30am the day of your interview.
The essay will be assessed on the following three criteria:
- Does it answer the question?
- Does it have a clear overall structure?
- Is the spelling, punctuation, and grammar clear and effective?
