Undergraduate Fees and Funding

Students must work out how to pay their living costs and the University tuition fees charged before embarking on a University course. Whilst working out how to pay for your studies might seem daunting, there are lots of options to support you.

Undergraduate Tuition Fees

The University charge Tuition Fees for each academic year of study. Each course has different tuition fees which can be viewed on the course webpages. For students studying via Partner Colleges/Institutions please refer to their webpages for the fees.

Tuition Fees do not need to be paid upfront and UK students enrolling on full-time undergraduate, PGCE, or MSc Physiotherapy courses may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance  to pay for tuition fees. Tuition Fee Loans are paid directly to the University on the student’s behalf.

Living costs

Living costs may include accommodation, utility bills if applicable, travel, food, and other things. Students may be eligible for a Maintenance Loan to help with living costs. Maintenance Loans are means-tested against the household income and dependent on factors such as the location of the University and mode of study (full time or part-time). Maintenance Loans are paid directly to students in three instalments across the academic year. Use the Student Finance Calculator to help approximate Maintenance Loan entitlement.

Additional non-repayable funding may also be available to students with dependent children, adult dependents and/or disabilities.

Applications for student loans and grants can be made online on the Student Finance website. Access support using SFE’s guide.

Funding applications

To prevent funding delays, we recommend students apply for funding before enrolling on their course. Students can apply for funding without a confirmed place at University using their preferred course choice. Applications can be amended or even cancelled before enrolling.

You will be invited by email to pre-enrol on-line about a month before your course start date where you will either indicate that you have received confirmation of your tuition fee loan from Student Finance England or that you have applied and are awaiting confirmation. You will not need to upload your Notification of Entitlement, unless it states a different university, as we will receive confirmation of your tuition fee loan from Student Finance England.

If your funding has been approved for a different university, you can upload your Notification of Entitlement during pre-enrolment process. If we do not receive confirmation of your fee loan, you will be liable for the tuition fees until this confirmation is received.

  • If you don’t want to borrow your tuition fees from the UK Government, or are ineligible for a tuition fee loan, you can pay your fees directly to the University. If you choose to pay in this way the fees will have to be paid while you are studying and payment cannot be deferred in the same way as a tuition fee loan.

    Part-time undergraduate Home students

Part –time fees are calculated depending on the amount of credits you will study each year. The maximum credits you can do per year as a part-time student is 90 credits. To find out how much your fees will be you will need to go to your course page and look for a part-time fee which will usually be presented per 20 credits (as this is an average module credit value), you will then have to decide how many modules you are planning to take and multiply that by the price.

For example: “20 credit module is £2,000 and you choose to study 80 credits so the price will be £8,000*”

*Please note that this is not a real price but just an example.
